We have taken up the crappy lino in our dining room and found flag stones underneath. We have scrubbed rhythm and pointed with lime mortar, so all good.
What we want now is a big rug to cover the middle section, what should it be made out of to be breathable? We are looking at one of the patch work ones, like afgan/Morocco w that's made from wool, are these suitable or need to be something else?

) but I reckon a traditionally made wool rug is your answer. I’ve picked up two from FB marketplace, all natural materials, well worn and weathered Victorian rugs. Absolutely no plastic/nylon/nasty offgassing like a new rug. Definitely breathable and very forgiving of the dogs. Second hand rugs can be eye wateringly expensive if you go for something “antique” and Persian and from a specialist . I’ve gone for things that don’t fit in with other people’s idea of decor that they are trying to get rid of!
