Blogging our progress

My partner and I have recently purchased our first period property and have a lot of work to do on it so have decided we should a blog so we can look back at our progress. I'm sure a lot of you have done this before so I have a couple of quick questions. What host site do you use? Has anyone used http://website.1and1.co.uk before? Seems easy enough but I'm not sure. I just want something that's simple to use that I can upload pictures to. Thanks for any tips/advice in advance

Wordpress seems to be easy. I even started a blog, but I am too busy fixing a house to do anything to the blog! I just looked it up, I didn't get very far!!!

...off on a tangent.. wouldn't it be neat to have a list of blogs somewhere, maybe like a new tab at the top next to "Advice". Maybe that would be unwieldy. There's a couple of blogs I'm following on here that folk update, but i bet there are more I'm missing out on...

1and1 are great (I use them for my little home on the web) but definite overkill for just a simple blog.

Blogger, blogspot, wordpress will all do you fine and cost you nowt!

I used Blogspot - see http://houseintheenchantedforest.blogspot.co.uk/ (which is also available via the little blue spot to the right but I suspect not a lot of people know that!). I am very happy with it, apart from the time in 2012 they did a reset and lost my latest post! After 4 years, 131 posts and 38,436 pageviews, I am just about blogged out, but that's partly because all I do to the house now is to finish off little boring details all over the place.

Just realised - Blogspot does have one unresolved issue - their graph showing "pageviews - all time" has the wrong years on it, but it's only the author who can see that.
