It's not, strictly speaking, another (would-be) building-materials-technical "restoration" prog like so many that seem to be popping up all over the telly, and it has worrying overtones of showing how "Big Society" might work, if you get enough nice middle-class people together (which doesn't really address the, um, "issues"), and it's not an especially authentic restoration (though better than many), but despite all the caveats, the BBC's new "Village SOS" series has got off to a rather enjoyable start. It's available until mid September:
