I'm in the process of installing an extractor fan for a shower cubicle in a bathroom. The fan has an overrun timer but this feature requires an additional separate power supply to the light fitting, which will be awkward to arrange. I'm therefore proposing to just connect the fan to the light fitting (via an isolation switch mounted outside the bathroom). This arrangement will mean the fan switches on and off with the bathroom light, i.e. will have no overrun.
Does anyone know if such an arrangement is compliant with the building ventilation regulations?
I've scanned through the Part F (2006) document and the only reference I could find to over-running fans is in F1 Table 1 mentions that "For a room with no openable window (i.e. an internal room), the fan should have a 15-minute over-run".
The bathroom in question does have an opening window, so am I safe to assume that an over-run fan is not required under these regulations?
