Bark on A frames

We're intending to leave the A frames exposed in what will eventually be the main bedroom; they have quite a bit of bark still attached which tends to drop bits. My partner thinks we should remove the bark, I was wondering if there was anything we could put on it to sort of keep it stuck on?

It would be nice to keep the bark in situ, an authentic way to keep its character.

It should not become detached all of a sudden, unless you start fiddling with it, if in some places some larger sections are becoming very loose just put some small brass screws to hold it in position.

It's mostly coming off it 50p sized flakes, at the moment usually only if brushed against. Wondering if it will detatch itself more readily after the advent of central heating .....

If you can lightly hoover the beams to get the dust off leave them there.

If they get sucked up , well, hard luck.

If you really want to keep them up there and do an OTT conservation job , they should be restored with wax resins.

You have to justify if it is worth doing.

I once encountered a ceiling that used to shed until it got fixed. Harmless enough, just remember to cover the water jug.

You know, it's when I read threads like this that I realise how far I am from being a true period property enthusiast.

My attitude would be - if the bark is falling off in 50p size flakes on a daily basis, take the flippin' stuff off!

It might have been cleverer to take the bark, and the sapwood, off before building the roof.
What sort of timber is it, do you know?

Not sure what kind of timber it is, looks like some sort of pine - was about to post a picture, but stumped as to how I do this here? Thinking will probably just hoover off the loose stuff as suggested, and assume the rest will stay put.
