If you visit newark you must visit the bakers oven cafe in the market square where for the price of a coffee you can have access to the first and second floors of the old govenors house where prince rupert stayed during the civil war seige of newark.you are surounded by the timber frame and can see early blacksmith type repairs and early painting on the plaster and wood.Ive recently moved to near newark and am still in awe of th place.There is also the charles the first coffee house in kirk gate with a great inglenook(access through the flower shop)phil p-j.
