Back to windows

I’ve had 2 people in the last week knocking on my door trying to persuade me to change my front door and windows. I’m getting pretty (polite word) fed up with it. My front door is seasoned oak, with a double glazed panel, installed 4 years ago. My front windows aren’t original as is obvious when you look at the facade that shows the outline of the original casements that were changed to sash windows circa 1820. I said my windows were renovated recently and was told it doesn’t look like it. How about the back of my property? New kitchen, new windows, basically bu@@ar off. I do worry about the people who don’t realise that these salesmen can devalue their property by putting in plastic windows that only last about 20 years whereas mine are still here 200 years later.

I get them as well, they come in waves, none for ages then 2 in a week. I just tell them that I think plastic windows are crap and they usually give up quite easily! I even had one trying to persuade me to replace my lovingly restored decorative bargeboards with UPVC.
