This took me back to waking up in my Nan and Grandad’s council house in London in the 60’s, with it’s metal window frames.
Inside condensation turning to ice

It’s one of the kitchen windows and short of leaving the underfloor heating on all night there isn’t much I can do.

It was -8 here last night so it’s no great surprise. The joys of older properties

Can't see through the bathroom windows this morning. Taking frosted glass a bit literally...

Looks like we got off lightly.

Cheated last night and left the heating on, a bit scary checking the meter this morning
It did the trick and the cottage is pleasantly warm this morning.

This 500 year old cottage is very much like my last 1960’s abode. A buggar to get warmed up but once you do it’s very nice.
Only difference being we were paying 15p per kWh then and not the current 35p per kWh

The 24 hour policy will strictly be for cold snaps only.

One of the up-sides to a thatch roof is that heat retention is very good compared to slate or tile and consequently we seldom see frost on our single glazed windows. The down-sides though can include low hanging icicles such as these from a few years back.

Icicles used to be common at the eaves years ago, before they start insulating them.
