AT LAST!! My Rayburn and UFH in Limecrete is up and running!

I can't believe it.....after spending 6 years sitting in the porch under wraps my c1982 Rayburn was finally fired up yesterday and amazed everyone by needing no new parts and firing up first time!! I'm sooooooo pleased. This also means that my UFH in Limecrete is up and running, although we can't tell at the moment as we have to increase the temperature sloooowly over the next 2 weeks.

Our house is really starting to resemble a home now, rather than a building site!!

Well done - sounds like a significant milestone there! It's always nice to be able to tick off a major job like that on the giant list.

Thanks, Gervase. It's certainly feeling like we're getting somewhere now! On Monday the 'supports' will be built (in brick) for my Belfast sink and on Tuesday the sink wil be sat on top. My kitchen will be looking far more like it then!!

What is your plan for the water pipes from the Rayburn? Six years after installation I have still to work out what to do with the exposed pipes that I have. Your pipes are much better placed than mine, but if you have a cunning plan I would love to hear what it is!

I've thought of different things to do with the pipes; polish them up and varnish them, paint them black, paint them the final colour of the wall. But, I think I'm finally settled on just leaving them as they are. They're turning into a very mellow colour and look rather nice. I'm not too happy about the clips that the plumber has put on though...in fact I'm rather cross!! I would have preferred the top ones further up and the lower ones further down, just to hide them. I think I'll paint them copper to match the pipes.

Of course, it's S*d's Law that one's new heating system always reaches completion shortly before the full heat of summer starts! :wink:
