Hi
Digging up the concrete in my side passage in order to lower external ground levels, I found a load of these in the hardcore underneath. They seem like old soft porous bricks but they are thin, ranging from 20mm to 50mm (3/4 inch to 2 inch) with no frog in them. Could they be old floor bricks? Could that be what was originally on the floor inside, before it all got covered in concrete?!!
Obviously there's no way of knowing whether they came from inside the house, but given the other lazy uses of building scrap in filling in holes in the house, I would almost be surprised if they weren't from the house.
Thanks for any knowledge!
