Anyone looking for a Rayburn?

I have a gas rayburn I need to shift it's being disconnected tomorrow and I thought I'd ask you guys first.

Chepstow area send me a PM if interested.

Also any idea what they are worth it's was probably new in the mid 80's I have the manuals and I've serviced it twice since I've had it and was told it's in perfect order but if nobody here is interested any idea's on where I might find it a new owner?

We bought our electric aga off there, also you could look to see how much they sell for too.

Take a photo of it before you get it dismantled, so people know you have had it working.

Just had a look at the ebay sold Rayburns as we will have one to sell some time in the future. Sold prices range from £50 to £1200 with many ranges unsold at prices around £200. I've no idea why some are popular and some are not.

It depends on the model and the fuel.

Old No 1's and 2's aren't worth much at all (probably better to weigh them in), mainly because of the single hotplate cover, insulation and running costs.

Later models, such as the Royale and Supreme, were better but lacked the capacity for heating.

Models like the Nouvelle are probably the better choice (even over the newer models because of the build quality), as they have a large capacity for heating and hot water.

The one model to avoid like the plague is the 480K (oil fired). The build quality was dire and the jets had so many problems that Rayburn, as far as I know, don't even manufacture spare parts for this model any more!!

Rayburns don't dismantle, as such, like Agas. To reduce the weight for moving, you can remove the doors and the hotplate but you're still looking at close to 300kg.

Rayburns don't convert very well at all, whereas Agas do. This is because of the ability to heat as well as cook, which makes it more complicated. I don't understand the technicalities but I'm sure someone else here can explain.

IMHO, the new models, with their sleek lines, aren't anywhere near as attractive as the 1980- 1990's models and the build quality is giving Rayburn a bad reputation, which is a shame.

I forgot to add that colour makes a difference on price, too. The least popular colour is Sable, a two-tone mink/brown colour, closely followed by Chocolate Brown (which I have). The most popular colour is the traditional Cream.

am thinking of getting a 300K for our kitchen (yes finally in the house!). Anyone got any experience with this model. Has to be oil fired (no mains gas and the current oil fired boiler sits where a calor gas tank would have to go)and I don't want a central heating version.
