Anyone have georgian window panes for sale?

does anyone have any reclaimed glass panes for sale?

LIME.....i did contact you a couple of times as i noticed you said you have around 40-50 panes of Georgian glass, if for some reason you didnt get those messages, perhaps you will see this?........is there any chance you can supply us with some panes for our windows? a few panes have cracked in the existing windows (which need replacing) but our new window arrives next week & i want to get cracking with the on going renovations, i'll need 12 panes for new window (the old one was a totally inferior window, modern glass & it wasn't even the right style/molding!)

Anyway, if anyone else can help me out either by supplying me with the glass direct or can you give me the details of some good reclaimation yards that will/might have some old (georgian) window panes, i would be truly grateful!?

Oh dear I feel quite bad.
I posted about the glass only to support my method of glass reclamation using the hot air gun.
I wouldn't part with what I have, sorry.
As it is I'm surrounded by building work and materials at home and have used some of the glass today.
As an aside, I was speaking to the building inspector today about the new building regulations.
I said that I thought they were a nightmare and he thoroughly agreed with me.
The inspectors in his department are absolutely run off their feet at the moment.

Hi Chris, I can't help you with the glass I'm afraid but I can give you a few pointers on forum etiquette. If you could refrain from posting topics in CAPS all the time with less of these: !!!!! and these: ????? and posting the same post in different threads it would make the forum a lot easier on the eye and easier to use. The mods here seem quite relaxed but I can assure you in other forums your topics would be locked or deleted before anyone got to read them.

I have a single pane of wobbly glass going spare from a 1900s window if that's any use. I live in Hull so its quite a distance away though.

I would have two but the other broke in half as I was removing it.

Try a glazier in your area but ask for greenhouse glass. This always used to be cheaper glass which matched victorian glass rather well. Georgian is more of a problem as presumably we are talking about hand made not machine made. Try my suggestion for a few pieces (it is cheap), otherwise it is searching reclamation yards for you.

People have mentioned in that past that green hosue glass is good but not quite right.

You can't get crown glass any more, but Tatra glass is proper cylinder glass, and will have the appropriate 'wobbly' reflections and 'seeds' in the glass.

It's sometimes known as seed glass for that reason.

I've just been searching through pics of listed buildings in Southport, and it's interesting how many have descriptions of historic windows, and recent pictures showing the joys of uPVC...

I think Biff finds Tatra, on a 'supply only' basis, to be the cheapest of the suppliers of cylinder glass.

Yes, Tatra is the cheapest place for real quality hand made mouth blown cylinder glass, indistinguishable from 200 year old stuff except that it's clean.

Crown glass is a different thing - nobody makes it, and probably nobody really knows how to make it anymore.

Horticultural glass may be an improvement on float but if you can afford the £80 per square metre for cylinder then do. You will really see the difference.
