I definitely fancy a trip to the seaside. My lovely friend William Wollen and his angel of a wife have been doing their damndest to regenerate the Theatre Royal, Margate, he's the Artistic Director, and heaven knows that town needs all the help and alluring restoration it can get. Being in East Anglia, I was rather hoping that, in a few years, the seaside would come to me.

Wicksteed Park, near where I work is, I believe, the country's oldest leisure park, Grade II listed, and featuring many rides including one entertainingly decribed by a colleague as "the skip on a rope"

I'm not a great fan of rollercoasters either; I can never seem to get my mind off the engineering issues.

There's a wooden roller coaster at Oakwood in Wales that's billed as the biggest wooden roller coaster in somewhere-or-other. Now, I know that it will have been carefully designed with appropriate safety margins and regular inspections but it's still a bit disconcerting standing in the queue an watching the whole structure move as the cars whizz around.
