Any good roofers Lincs, Notts, Leic?

Thought I'd found my roofer but he is very good at not coming after saying he would. He's highly recommended by Skillies, but not actually theirs, and he seems very much in demand. Roofers scare me, we had another so-called heritage roofer round a couple of years ago, he wanted to take all the Swithland slates away and sell them, and re do it all in Collyweston. Not happy about that idea at all.

I'm looking for a roofer with lots of G1 experience who won't change the character of our wonderful roof. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful! The water is coming through!

My friend is a roofer who's done conservation work and GII Listed roofs.

He's a bit of a perfectionist and very OCD when it comes to roofs, which is why we've used him. He's based in North Notts.

I can't help with a local roofer, but if water is coming in then I'd seriously consider getting a tarpaulin over the affected area of the roof, suitably tied down. Any general builder ought to be able to handle that job without messing it up and it could save a lot of internal damage.

Hopefully Woody's contact will come up trumps for a proper fix!

We are not far from you but are unable to recomend anyone,we needed a roofer after a batten failed and some tiles shifted,we phoned/emailed nineteen roofers from the yellow pages and the web,only two showed interest when told it was only a small job and only one of these turned up to quote for it,we accepted his quote but he never came to do the job!.I ended up buying a scaffold tower and doing it myself even though I has promised myself not do do any work higher than the gutter level (getting too old and less agile) I wish you well with your quest and please tell the forum if you find a "goodun".

19 roofers!!! Unbelievable. Though actually I can well believe it having had similar experiences trying to chase tradesmen.

Thanks FF - it's the whole roof that is troublesome really, due to an insufficiency of slates - the previous owner fitted this roof without allowing enough overlap. A little water is coming in the section under the dormer and that could usefully be tarpaulined. The corners are affected badly, and Chris says the parts within the loft he's inspected are revealing damp asphalt on the underside though no puddles thankfully. We have got to address all this this winter - and thank you, I will speak to Chris about a tarpaulin.

Joce, happy to recommend Jordan Heritage Roofing from Tibshelf is Derbyshire - not Lincolnshire I know but worth a call to see if they will travel. The quality of their work is excellent, but that tends to come at a steeper price I'm afraid.
