Antlers

Another daft question.

The builders are gone, the house is virtually done (just a couple of snags to fix) and we're settling down to enjoying it, "doing the garden*", and generally making it home.

Herself has decided that, since it's called "Buckshorns" a set of antlers on the front of the cart lodge would be a poetic addition. Ten years or so ago, every antique shop we visited seemed to have a dusty set of antlers hanging on the wall or lying in a corner, unloved. Now that we're looking for some, there are none in sight.

Has anyone seen any antlers for sale (or freecycled) anywhere in East Anglia or adjacent?

FF's link is good - I doubt you'd get free mounted ones as they always have a value. I have seen them for sale in the local antique centres - particularly Hemwell north of Lincoln, at similar prices to that website.

Plenty of antlers around here at the moment, they are still on the hoof but there is still six weeks of the season left!

The great thing about antlers, as opposed to other "trophy" animal parts, is that you don't have to kill the beast the bears them. Just wait for him to doff them carelessly at the end of winter.

:roll: Don't you Sassenachs know anything? The stag season ends in September and the open season for neep bashing isn't until October. Meanwhile, with such a wet summer, I think the slugs have champit all my tatties!
