Hi
I am in the process of buying a 200 yr old cottage that needs some renovation. My mortgage valuation put a £3k retention on it due to damp! I could tear all my hair out as it is a stone built cottage that has sat empty it is going to suffer moisture. I appreciate also that being stone there will and due to its age it will never be completely dry.
I got in a damp company and as suspected they have quoted for a whole new DPC. Again Im screaming inside as I know it will not be worth the £4k they are asking me to pay.
Any suggestions?
