My partner is on a diet so we're walking a lot. We've joined the National Trust so we have something to look at while walking. Stowe Gardens are brilliant if you are ever near Buckingham - around 30 folleys.

Smaller gardens today but I was there to look at the mock tudor at Ascott near Leighton Buzzard as it is roughly the same date as my own mock tudor. The roof lines on the other side are fabulous.

I'm wondering what their wood is painted with. Mine is dulux gloss but the wood is rotting in places. Theirs is more matt so could allow the wood to dry out a little.

A pipe dream of mine is to put a pitched roof on my toilet block and I'm thinking about a bit more mock tudor to match the front. Just rendering might look too plain with only one window.

I'm told some of the Dulux is breathable. Its not quite linseed oil, that I'm sure.

Does mock mock tudor ever work? There are so many awful pastiche 60s extensions to the Victorian villas in Penarth.

Mock Tudor is always in fashion. It's been going fairly constantly for nearly 150 years. Though it can look awful on modern builds where they use thin bits of straight wood. Some of the new oak framed buildings look nice (to me). It could be too fussy though.
