- Hull - there's a nip in the air.
Following on from Feltwell's horribly abused cupboards, here are mine. The doors are from a local salvage yard, and fit nicely into the space, and the beading matches the doors in the house. The rest is new.

-The picture doesn't pick up many inperfections, but you get the idea.
Upper shelves done in 28mm timberboard

This is a work in progress:

Couple of almost interesting points about the job:
* Both side walls are hollow. The left with the cornicing is probably latt & plaster (which is weird as the same wall further along is solid). The right hand side is stud wall that was fitted to split the master bedroom when the previous owner had an additional offspring. This left the gap you see, which was calling out to be made into storage, and the stud work arrangement bascially gives us a nice sized bedroom and study, so we'll be keeping it.
* The skirting comes away underneath the doors. This is something I also did in the last house, as it allows us to store heavy objects (eg. large tool box or sewing machine) and lift it out with ease. They use two detachable hinges I got from a chap who makes gig gear. It still needs a bit of tweaking though, but will work well when finished.
So the question is, what do we paint/coat it with? Obviously, the skirting needs to be white to match the other skirting, and I was thinking white for the new wood around the edge (maybe), but what of the inside and the doors? It would seem a shame to paint them after they were dipped, but they aren't perfect. There are blotches, and a bit of damage to them, but I was never going to find better around here for this job.
That said, nearly all the internal doors in the house have been done badly in some way, so maybe it would be in keeping with the rest of the house!
