Hello helpful people,
In renovating our 1880 semi-detached house (construction stone rubble), we need to re-render several large walls. Builder suggested sand and cement at roughly £40/m2. On asking for a permeable option, his price for lime render comes in at £90/m2 — and we'll pay it if we have to, but we're on a tight budget, and I've been wondering about alternatives — like EcoCork or Bauwer perlite, perhaps? I was wondering whether anyone had experiences of alternative breathable renders, or could recommend others? I know we have to get the house breathing (we've seen first-hand the appalling damage caused by cement in well-meaning 'repairs') but I'm trying very hard to keep costs down.
As always, advice and ideas very welcome!
