Aga cookers

Just wondered if anybody is using a reconditioned heatstore Aga--- if so, are you happy with it?

If I had never owned a proper Aga , I would probably be very happy with my current 6/4, but it really doesn't have the capacity or ability to meet my cooking requirements so I MIGHT go for a heatstore , but really think that a new one is somewhat over the top , plus the associated installation requirements.

The only advantage of new one is the Aims system, which is certainly proving cost effective with the running costs.

There are 2 good firms doing reconditioned ones, the Aga Exchange, and Aga-Twyford, both offering different degrees of guarantees etc which I am checking out.

Just got a new laptop--- the old one went ffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttttt., hence being so quiet recently.

Well, spare a thought for Mrs P, who is no longer able to have any kind of range in our diminutive cottage (unless we build an extra cottage to house it).

How the marriage has survived this, I'll never know.

Ah yes - a definite "noise of death". One of many such sounds that computers are programmed to emit when the manufacturers have decided it's time for you to buy a new one. Another is the "click of death".

Did you also get a nice, satisfying BSOD*?

Hi Joce
We bought a recon Aga three years ago from Cheshire Cookers; no problems to date.
It will cost about £300 to install ( double that if purchase involves dismantling, too ).
Altogether much cheaper than new. It had a new burner and had been re-enamelled.
Not sure if Cheshire Cookers still trading; rumour has it they`re re-invented as Classy Cookers.

Thanks Philmac, I will see if I can find cheshire cookers, i think I've come across it before.

It's looking as though I will have to suffer in 'silence' and get over my yearning for a heatstore, really got other priorities to complete--- then who knows- :wink:
