I have laid limecrete floors throughout the ground floor and now need to re-instate the original flooring in the kitchen and pantry. The kitchen was originally laid with clay quarry tiles and the pantry with brick paviours.
My understanding is that these would traditionally have been laid in a bed of sharp sand/lime; 3:1.
I intend to lay a screed over these two floors to create a level base so the question is - would it be better to lay the screed (NHL5 and sharp sand) and immediately bed the tiles/paviours in it or would it be best to leave the screed to go off and then bed the tiles in a 'lime slurry' mixed to the consistency of a modern tile adhesive?.
Given that a screed is normally laid quite dry my concern was that the tiles/paviours wouldn't bind to it.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
