Advice on band course

Hi,

We’re currently having the pebble dash removed from our property, and the work includes replacing the cementitious band course below the parapet. The masons have replaced this with a lime mortar equivalent, and I’m wondering how to paint it. We are also having the concrete plinth replaced with a lime mortar equivalent. Presumably, a lime wash once it is dry? Is this something anyone can do, or do I need a specialist decorator?

It's a nice natural colour already - why paint it? It's just making work, not just now, but in the future.
