Advice for Door Knocker

We have a lovely new front door. Our house is Georgian and the door has been made in the Georgian style. We are happy as the old one was modern (70s?) and not in keeping with the house at all. We are now thinking about a door knocker. Does anyone have any advice as to the style / materials / places to buy such things (preferably online!). My thinking thus far is that we don't want one made from lacquered brass.

So it seems Matthew's suggestion is spot on

A quick perusal of fleabay throws up lots of repro doctor's knockers, but I did spot one fairly nice cast iron example.....
