Acoustic glass in sewcondary glazing?

Hello - I am very new to the forums - and notice there is quite a lot of discussion about windows. I live in a timber framed house with some secondary glazing already in place, however it is not effective in cutting truck / motorbike noise. If I was to use acoustic glass would there be significant reduction in noise? The current glass is very thin. When the house was listed it already had 20thC casement windows, so there may be a possibility of going triple glazed if the conservation officer will agree.

First make sure there is a tight seal all the way round - sound leaks through little cracks.

Changing the glass in the secondary glazing for laminated glass may be quite cost effective. To stop sound you want an airspace between the panes as wide as possible, so secondary glazing can be better than double glazed sealed units.

Thanks for the quick repsonse... I am limited on the space between the panes as the houses structural timber is very uneven so the secondary glazing has to fit onto the exisiting frame .There is around a 5 inch gap...

Now to find myself a glazier in essex!
