Did you look at the "artist in residence" page on the Willow & Stone site? Some lovely (if a bit photographic for my taste) Cornish scenes that I recognise from my childhood.

Thanks - the first site is great and well laid out...

The second one however is highly frustrating...so fixated on getting 're' into the categories that it's not immediately obvious what's in each one!

Then, when you enter a category, you only get half a picture...what does anyone else think?

Well - RE is one place I love looking around ... best to visit in person really!

The paintings were very evocative I agree though on the other iste.

I quite agREe. Someone's had an incREdibly clever idea that REally dominates the website, to no useful purpose.

It's a fun store run by lovely people so don't be too hard on them!

I don't mean to be hard on them. It's the person who contructed their website who needs a bit of a reality check!

Not being hard on them...just trying to offer some feedback as a potential customer (in much the same way as we did on the recent paints website).

They might have some lovely products....but I couldn't tell or be bothered to spend the time finding out. Behind the categories...the idea of showing a cropped picture of the object is a classic case of 'form over function'....it prevents you from seeing the object and forces you to click through to every single item to decide if you actually like it or not.

Both sites have some lovely items...but I know which one will be added to my bookmarks

Really it is a great place to spend an hour ... and a heap of cash really.

Then a beer at the pub.

I haven't had any prob with the site - I like the quirkiness personally.

More interesting than Scr*wfix.

Yes, that's the point, really. Web surfers have a very short span of apprehension, and I think the website will just cause people to click away before they've found the cornucopia that lies within.

Willow and Stone - love the site and the potted history - personalises them nicely - don't like Nicks art much personally but can see how incredibly talented he is (I live in the Lake District so like fells sheep etc - joking about the sheep!!)

Agree with the wholely pertinent critique of REfound site - lost interest in it after a bit - would need to be v bored to take the time looking through - what web designers forget is that we can process a lot of information visually so prefer a whole page of things to look at with a list of prices underneath - boring perhaps but easier to fill up a shopping basket - and that is, after all, the point!

Great website - I love the pop-up book. But I note with deepest regret the use of the word "scrummy".

I thought this had been banned by the academie anglaise.

Oooh... got the catalogue and it's full of lovely things - the Bluebird clockwork tin toy and the Land Speed Record Sunbeam I crave, also the garden thermometer which has temps including 'parky' which I understand far better than numbers!
