A photographic tour of some of Avoncroft Building Museum

A photographic record of todays trip to Avoncroft building museum near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire. Well worth a visit. A beautiful though bitterly cold day saw us touring the Merchants house, set up for a Tudor "Christmas" - had fire lit where it really would have been etc. The cold drove everyone else away and we had the place all to ourselves! Didn't brave the windmill today, and several other industrial/agricultural buildings missed out, but my toes couldn't take anymore (we have annual pass so go often!). Avoncroft has always been a favourite day out for me (my old mum and dad live not far away), although it's some years since I was last there.

My favourite building has always been The Merchant's House, but then I've always been a sucker for a nice timber frame. However, I don't remember The Guesten House, with that wonderful roof. Is it a recent addition?

Shame that the prefab wasn't "manned" when you were there. The last time I visited there was an old boy sitting reading The Daily Sketch - circa 1954, if I remember correctly (the paper, not the man). He was very interesting to chat to.
