Hi,
Having taken up a very rough, and thankfully rather thin, concrete floor from a downstairs room I'm going to lay a new oak floor over joists. The house is 1850s and the concrete replaced the original wood floor removed by the previous owners in the 1980s. Rather naively perhaps, I ordered a 'rustic' oak floor which arrived this morning and on the whole it all looks lovely. The problem is that because it is the 'rustic' version (so the knots don't come pre-filled and sanded) many of the knots are simply holes right trough the boards. When I viewed the sample in the store the knots were rough, but intact.
My question is can anyone please recommend the best way to fill the holes? To finish I'm just going to treat the wood with an oil, probably Treatex matt.
As ever thanks in advance.
