Nothing much in this post apart to say that I hate seeing houses like this for sale. In itself it is not particularly spectacular, just a reasonably large, quite attractive Victorian house. It just hasn't been butchered. It is in an area near me and is very cheap for the area and the size of house. I mourn as once there were thousands of places like this in Birmingham but they have all been "modernised". This city must once have been quite attractive. The estate agent even advertises that it needs modernising. Why not restoring???? I will take a picture of this place in 12 months after it has been "much improved" and "modernised" and back on the market for £600,000. I will also drive past every now and then after it is sold. I imagine there will be a nice supply of rolled glass, 4 panel doors and quarry tiles for anyone that is after such things!!!! Wasn't Feltwell after a back door??

This sort of attitude is why we looked (via Rightmoves) for two years through the houses of four counties to find one that hadn't been vandalised, or surrounded by modern tat. :evil:

It's sad, but you've only got to watch any property programme - especially those looking at the buy-to-let market - to see what will be likely to happen to that house. We are in a minority in valuing what is original and, importantly, being willing to spend time, effort and money to keep that originality rather than taking the "easy" route of UPVC windows etc etc.

(Says the man who may well be driving all the way to Suffolk from Shropshire in the near future, to get yet another incomplete Victorian fireplace, to add to his collection of other incomplete Victorian fireplaces that he's gathered from all over the country over the last 6 years as he attempts to gather enough bits to put the original type of fireplaces back in throughout his house. If anyone ever sees Biclam design No.54 firepaces on their travels, do let me know....... :roll: )

Let me re-phrase that.....
