Of course you could just live in part of it, and use the rest as a B&B, then perhaps the insulation issues would go away?

Ahh. Been there! Way, way back around 1959 or 1960 a friend of a friend was sailing with a friend of his in the Solent; they gybed and the boom knocked him unconscious so they put in to the shore just below that castle and went for help. The friend of the second part told the friend of the first part about this and said there was an old Rolls Royce in the coach-house. The friend of the first part and I then spent a whole weekend trying to find the right castle from the landward side - and indeed we eventually succeeded. The castle was unoccupied and we had to get the key-holder to let us in - but there in the old coach house was an early 20/25 mouldering away. At that stage of our lives only a Silver Ghost would have done so we never followed it up any further. Sic transit gloria mundae - and my youth with it!

Researching the property over the last few days, it appears the whole place has been cleared and all items went to auction

I wondered if I bought it, I could offer free holidays to PPUKers, so long as they brought their tools with them and did a bit of work in exchange for their trip.............

Only one of several ideas I've had to try and make purchasing it viable
