Purchase cost of 7 metre twin ,flexible, multifuel s/steel liner, including pot holder, rain cap and lower attachment flange £264 ( inc vat) . ( to be lowered into existing brick chimney void ).
All I need is a long ladder against the chimney ( + a couple of people for " stabilisers " ) and a bit of gut for me to claim the ladder. Alternatively, a scaffold tower, proper scaffolding or an helicopter with a decent pilot.
The last couple of option are a tad expensive.
As the "gut" front has also started to dwindle ( I am getting on a bit now to tackle high ladder work !!!), my subconcious instint led me to ask the appliance supplier to quote for supplying and INSTALLING the liner.
I nearly had a heart attack !!!!. to supply and install liner : £ 1850.00 + VAT.
All of a sudden I became very courageous, the " gut" came back. I am asking my son and son-in-law to hold the ladder ( better still, I may send one of them up the chimney  )
What a rip off.
