The journalists ( if one could call them that ) at the Sun newspaper must have been so disapointed to hear that I had had to read the Daily Mail, that they have found a nice story about what one might find in the ceiling of a period property for me to share. I know Mr P will enjoy this immensely......and Joce should probably not click the link.

In Sudbury, Suffolk, there's a hotel called The Mill. When the building was being converted into a hotel (back in the 1980s if I remember correctly) the workmen found a dead cat in the wall - not unusual for a building of this age. They chucked it into a skip. Soon afterwards, the story goes, the building suffered enormous damage - some stories tell of a fire, others of a catastrophic failure of the structure.

The dead cat was recovered, and now resides in a glass coffin in the lounge of the hotel. No damage has been reported since.

Proof positive that the only good cat is a dead cat.

She said: "Dead cats were used to ward off evil spirits. It's perfectly preserved but we're not sure what we'll do with it now."

It's a fine specimen. I think I'd find one of those bow-fronted glass cabinets used for mounting fish and place it in that on display somewhere prominent.

Yes that's right, a man with large equipment. Mr FF might find it more agreeable to hire a lady though.

What Penners didn't say was the building was only put up in the 1960's. They're an odd bunch down in Suffolk you know :lol:

On the same trip (to Holkham Beach) Mrs P and I spotted a roadworks warning sign at the side of the road, that read "Cat's Eyes Removed". A few yards farther on we passed a vet's surgery. Absolutely true!

And I'm sure you know about the quaint sign as you enter Wiveton:

Pity they didn't add "Bor" at the end.
